Vase Shrimp Tank Update

It’s been a month now since I bought, and set up the vase shrimp tank.

I added a few more off cuttings from my other Shrimp tank, just like I did when I first set it up, and also bought another two plants, along with a nice piece of driftwood.

Not sure what the other two are, but they are lower, foreground plants that are more leafy, you can see them at the front.

Still waiting for the plants to grow a lot more, to ensure they can filter the water and keep it safe for the Shrimp, that i’ll eventually add. Hopefully I can add some from my other two tanks when they populate, rather than keep buying more.

The addition of the driftwood looks really good. Took about two weeks of soaking in a bucket to get it to stop floating. It now winds around the vase.

For my other Shrimp tank, the 12 Litre I have in my kitchen, I bought 6 Frogbit, and placed two in this vase. Frogbit is a type of water lily type plant, that floats on the surface.

Frogbit has long roots that hang down and are really good for filtering the water. They also propagate themselves really quickly and people often have to scoop it out as it can take over the surface. This can lead to shading of other plants from the light, and those plants may not do as well if they require high lighting.
