So while my little 12 Litre shrimp tank matures and the three Shrimp inhabitants settle in, I’ve bought a big 10-12 Litre vase and will set it up as a vase shrimp tank.
It’s an absolutely lovely vase, I got it from TK Max for £10, it has thick glass and goes a little thinner at the top. I think when I move out i’ll have it on my computer desk.
It has a load of dirt, fine black gravel on top, and iv replanted all the trimmings from the stem plants in my first 12 Litre Shrimp tank that were growing out of the water.
It only took me about 20 minuets to set it all up, get the dirt in and the substrate. Add a little bit of water, plant the plants, and fill it up with water. After I had to sift out all the dirt with a little net. The water has cleared and it now looks fantastic.
I’ll obviously wait months before adding any Shrimp. Until the stem plants in the vase grow to the top and branch out filling the spaces. Once the plants have exploded in the vase I’ll add shrimp, but I’m talking months to get it optimal, no rushing. there needs to be enough plant, to soak up any harmful chemicals.
Photo’s aren’t the best, it’s hard to take a photo of rounded glass. Once up close you can see clearly all the plants and gravel.
It will be good to take some more photos in about a month and see how much taller the plants have grown. I’ll update further.
